SNV Tanzania is looking for a Sector Leader, Water,
Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Based in Dar es Salaam
(International Contract)
SNV Tanzania works together with local partners to provide
technical expertise in three sectors: Water, Sanitation and hygiene
(WASH); Renewable Energy and Agriculture,
thereby contributing to find local solutions to global challenges and sowing
the seeds of lasting change.
The WASH program in Tanzania contributes to extending access
to Water and Sanitation and improving hygiene with a focus in four sub-areas:
- Functionality
of Rural Water Supply Services – programme with the strongest track record
- Water
and Sanitation Services in Schools – strong programme but with challenging
prospects
- Sustainable
Sanitation and Hygiene for All in rural areas – new SNV Tanzania programme
area
- Sustainable
Sanitation and Hygiene for All in small towns and peri-urban areas – confined
experiences
Our WASH team consists of a team of 10 SNV Advisors and we
have recently worked with 25 Local Capacity Building organizations. The WASH
team is working in both technical and governance aspects of WASH services.
SNV Tanzania is seeking qualified candidates for the
position of Sector Leader WASH. The Sector Leader is responsible for
the overall quality of program content, business development / resource
mobilisation, and management of the Tanzania WASH programmes. The Sector Leader
will enhance the quality and visibility of our WASH programs and position SNV
Tanzania as a knowledgeable organisation within the WASH sector.
Responsibilities
- Programme
Management: deliver effective development results, planning and
monitoring, financial management, and donor reporting;
- Business
Development: develop proposals and secure funding for innovative WASH
programmes;
- Advisory
Services: lead complex assignments and monitor quality of advisory
services of the sector team;
- People
Management: lead and coach the team of SNV advisors, local capacity
builders and consultants;
- External
Representation: develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to
improve SNV market position;
- Ensure
proper integration of governance and gender issues within SNV advisory services
and synergy with SNV work in the Agriculture and Renewable Energy sectors;
- Contribute
to the WASH program through active participation in external and internal
networks.
Candidate profile
- Master’s
degree or equivalent in relevant field of study;
- 10+
years of relevant experience in WASH service delivery (specifically in
our four sub-areas) including at least 5 years in a management role;
- Professional
work experience in Africa;
- Proven
track record in resource mobilisation; demonstrated programme design,
proposal writing, business development, international donor, and private
investor relationship management;
- Proven
experience with project planning, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and
financial management;
- Proven
experience in capacity building, facilitation of multi-stakeholder
processes, organisational learning, change processes and good governance;
- Proven
experience in knowledge development and evidence based advocacy;
- A
self-motivated achiever with excellent intercultural leadership, teamwork,
coaching, communication, networking and organizational skills.
Contract Duration: 2 years initial contract, with
possibility of extension

Africa, European cities, and the Middle East; Good national flight network
