General: The International Livestock Research
Institute (ILRI) works at the crossroads of livestock and poverty, bringing
high-quality livestock science, communications and capacity building to bear on
poverty reduction and sustainable development. ILRI is one of 15 centres
supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research
(CGIAR). ILRI has campuses in Kenya (headquarters) and Ethiopia, with other
offices located in other regions of Africa (Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria) as well
as in South Asia (India, Sri Lanka), Southeast Asia (Laos, Thailand, Vietnam)
and East Asia (China).
ILRI seeks to fill four Waiting Persons’ vacant positions in
Housing, Catering and Conference Services Unit and Zebu.
Terms of Reference:
- Cleans and lays out tables, tablecloths, Napkins, cutleries and crockery’s and other requirements of dining room, cafeteria, etc.
- Checks cutlery and crockery’s for cleanliness and stock levels.
- Takes customers’ food orders; gives Capitan orders to the kitchen serves and presents bills.
- Cleans tables and removes dirty cutleries and crockery’s to wash- up area.
- Maintains a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene and safety.
- Prepares iced water, fills jugs and places on table
- Checks mice -en place of cutlery and crockery in sideboards.
- Prepares coffee, hot water and milk in readiness for guest
- Collects cash for items served and deposits with cashier promptly.
- Operates the cash register machine & Coffee Machine.
Education:
- High school completed
Experience:
- Two years of experience in food and beverage services
Training:
- Certificate in food and beverage service from recognized catering training institute
Skills:
- Knowledge of food and beverage service
- Ability to maintain good presentation of tables(decoration)
- Barman/Waiter skill
- Interpersonal /communication skills
- Customer service
- Conversant with cash register machine

Minimum Base salary:
- Birr 3,731 per month
Terms of appointment: Initial appointment is
(fixed term) for two years with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon
individual performance and the availability of funding. The ILRI remuneration
package for nationally recruited staff in Ethiopia includes very competitive

etc.
The ILRI campus is set in a secure, attractive campus on the
outskirts of Addis Ababa. Dining and sports facilities are located on
site.
