ILRI seeks to recruit an Electronics Technician to maintain
laboratory and general electronic based equipment in the institute, ensuring
reliability, efficiency and cost effectiveness and safe user operation.
The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) works
to enhance the roles livestock play in pathways out of poverty in developing
countries. ILRI has two main campuses in East Africa and other hubs in East,
West and southern Africa and South, Southeast and East Asia.
CGIAR is a global agricultural research partnership for a
food-secure future. Its science is carried out by 15 research centres that are
members of the CGIAR Consortium in collaboration with hundreds of partner
organizations.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance procedures on every equipment/machine under electronics as specified by the manufacturer and updating the service cards
- Undertake repairs and calibration of broken down equipment and performing safety and operational test runs before handing back to the clients
- Assist in procurement of new equipment by providing technical specifications and related information about the item
- Advice the clients on the status of the progress of existing machines pointing out which ones are economical to maintain and operate
- Provide training or standard operational procedures of equipment to new users
- Compile and regularly update machine maintenance records such as; preventive maintenance schedule, spares/consumables records etc.
- Updating the stores department on the spares to restock and which ones are obsolete
- Training of students on attachment in the electronics section
Requirements:
- Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- 4 years of experience in a research Lab equipment
- Hands on experience on Industrial Autoclave and glass washing machines will be an added advantage
- Must be computer literate
- Knowledge on PLCs
Terms of Appointment
This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position based at
ILRI’s Nairobi campus. The position is on a 2 year fixed term contract.
Job level and salary
This position is job Grade 2B with a starting salary of KES
72,581. This is exclusive of other benefits provided by ILRI.
