DESCRIPTION
CARE is seeking a WASH Manager to be based in Bentiu, South Sudan.  CARE has a longstanding presence in each of the 3 main conflict affected states of South Sudan and is responding in WASH, livelihoods and protection across the 3 states; as well as scaling up and modifying our existing health/nutrition work in Unity and health in Jonglei.  The WASH Manager will be based in Bentiu with field travels to WASH projects areas in the Bentiu and other country Wash program areas. S/he will manage and provide technical support of CARE’s WASH programs, through regular assessments, program design, management, capacity building and monitoring and evaluation. The WASH PM will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical support to field staff, government and partners staff 
  • WASH Program Management and implementation
  • Capacity building of national staff, government staff and partners
  • Personnel Management
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response
  • Proposal/Program development
  • Coordination
  • Monitoring and evaluation
  • Representation
The requirements include an advance university degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or related courses.  A minimum of 8 years of progressively relevant professional working experience in WASH related activities.  At least 3 years of this experience should be with an international humanitarian organization international setting, dealing with large scale and conflict emergencies.  Experience working on donor funded projects, preferably USAID.  Demonstrated clear understanding of the water and sanitation situation in South Sudan.  Demonstrated experience in organizing and facilitating WASH related trainings.  Fluency in English (both written and spoken). Proficiency in computer software and statistical packages.  Technical skills in designing, drawing and BOQ for WASH infrastructure. Ability to work and live under difficult conditions.
