OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
Under the WHO Representative, provide support and guidance for the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the National Drug Policy to help improve access to essential medicines and assure their safety, quality and rational use; develop and manage the organisation's programme of technical cooperation at country level and coordinate the Organisation's pharmaceutical assistance.
Description of duties:
1. Serves as World Health Organization (WHO) focal point in the Ethiopian Food, Medicine and Health Care Administration and Control Authority (EFMHACA)
2. Advises the Director General of EFMHACA in the global and national medicine regulation developments
3. Advises the Director General in the implementation and reviews of national medicine policy, sectoral plans,
development of technical guidelines, lists and manuals essential for strengthening medicine regulation, rational use and Traditional medicines.
4. Provides technical assistance to the EFMHACA different directorates and branches in the implementation of WHO assisted activities,
5. Facilitates procurement process of medicines and other health care supplies intended for emergency interventions and regular programs
6. Plays advisory role in the coordination of partners of EFMHACA
7. Identifies potential areas of collaboration that need the support of WCO (including the support from other WCO clusters and programs)
8. Participates in the development of WHO supported work plans
9. Monitors the implementation of work plan approved by WHO and EFMHACA
10. Submits monthly work plan progress reports
11. Closely works with EFMHACA units in the organization of workshops, trainings.etc
12. Follows-up the production and/or printing of survey, training, workshop, meeting reports
13. Identifies bottlenecks in facilitation of collaboration between EFMHACA and WHO in the field of medicines regulation and reports back to the Essential Drugs and Medicines (EDM) Program Officer with recommendations
14. With the approval of the supervisor, represents WHO in meeting, workshops, trainings...etc called/organized by EFMHACA
15. Performs any other tasks as requested by EDM Officer
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
BSc Degree in Pharmacy or related fields
Skills: 
Technical Expertise in Pharmacy and public Health; Ability to work effectively with officials at the national and regional levels as well as with other partners and stakeholders in the pharmaceutical sector; Ability to draft reports and other documents in a precise and concise manner; Good oral and written communication skills; Knowledge of or familiarity with WHO mandate, work and goals as related to Essential Medicines; Ability to monitor own progress against objectives and take corrective actions necessary; adequate knowledge of Pharmaceutical and Essential Drugs and medicines Programme management. Proficiency in computer skills, data analysis and results presentation and or appropriate training/research skills

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

 Annual remuneration: USD 16,665 Payable in ETB
