Leader Forests and Climate position to be based in our Jakarta Office.

sustainability, SNV has established the “REDD+ Energy and Agriculture
Programme’’ (REAP).

interface between agriculture and energy use across different forest landscapes
in order to support low emission, pro-poor development pathways. By developing

The REAP team has developed several tools to work on
mitigating the impact of the agricultural sector on climate change and reducing
deforestation. In Indonesia the demand and interest in these tools and REAP’s
expertise is rapidly growing. As SNV is currently involved in several projects
aiming to address deforestation, community forestry, certification and climate
change, we are looking for an experienced team leader with a solid track record
in project management and a thorough understanding of these issues in the
Indonesian context. We are offering a full time position, based in Jakarta.
Overview of the Position
The Team Leader has responsibility for overall management of
the project which includes: efficient management of financial resources; review
and approval of project budgets and monitoring expenditures; supervision of
field operations, administration, logistics and procurement; supervision of
monitoring and evaluation; and ensuring quality control and timeliness of all
deliverables as required by the grant and donors. S/he will ensure full
compliance with all donor and other fiduciary regulations and will oversee the
project reporting process in line with donor requirements. S/he will oversee
performance management of all project staff working exclusively in his/her
project.
This position reports to the Sector Leader/Country Director
and collaborates with the Country Management Team(s) of coutry(ies).
Key Responsibilities
- Management
of the Forest Climate team, including but not limited to provide guidance
to the project set-up nationally and regionally as appropriate, including
developing work plans, budgets and competence table with financial
responsibilities and mandates;
- Build,
strengthen and manage strategic partnerships with regional governments,
key partners, institutions and stakeholders; specifically with national
partner partners in Indonesia
- Work
with and provide input into the National REDD+ Working Groups and sub-
Technical Groups, and provide frequent updates on our work
- Manage
relations with the donor;
- Overall
management of all human, physical and financial resources allocated to the
project;
- Monitor
performance of the project management team to ensure that all milestones
set in the annual work plan are met, develop mitigation plans to reduce
setbacks and take corrective actions to remedy any deviation from the work
plans; ensure targets are being met
- Account
and report to SNV, donor and clients on project performance;
- Guide
knowledge development, documentation and communication and branding in
close collaboration with the donor and country sector leader; and
- Identify
follow-up funding and partnership possibilities with country management
and business development.
- Profiling
and positioning of the project through documentation and dissemination of
good practices
Requirements
- Master’s
Degree in Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Sustainable Development
or any relevant discipline;
- Ten
(10) years or more of progressively responsible work experience in
forestry, forest carbon, and/or natural resource management projects
- Up-
to-date knowledge on forest carbon and REDD+, and knowledge of the related
situation in Indonesia.
- Proven
abilities in managing complex development projects and staff management;
- Proactive
and entrepreneurial to explore and develop innovative approaches;
- Visionary
and able to strategically inspire and energise project teams operating in
the whole country;
- Excellent
social and networking skills in (the required) contexts, ability to engage
with governments, the private sector and civil society;
- Strong
leadership qualities and excellent skills in networking with stakeholders
and in positioning of a project.
- Strong
interpersonal and influencing skills and experience working in a matrix
organisation;
- Excellent
communication (written and oral), reporting and presentation skills; and
- Willingness
to travel to all project locations.
Languages: English and Indonesian.
