candidates for the position of: Communications Specialist I
Assists in the creation and delivery of memorandums, organizational materials and announcements, events and other deliverables pertaining to organizational communications. Focuses on developing and delivering clear, concise and coordinated organizational messaging across multiple communications v ehicles and on fostering opportunities for dialogue between staff and leadership. Works across all communications platforms, including email, website, social media platforms and company intranet. Serves as project manager for assigned projects, ensuring quality and smooth production from start to finish of project. Assi sts unit lead in meeting all unit deliverables, including planning and budget assistance. Plans and coordinates meetings and events as needed.
Accountabilities:
- Researches, writes, and edits a broad range of communications
that promote the activities of the organization.
- Provides publicity and promotional support for special events and community outreach
activities.
- Develops and implements communications and public relations strategies to promote and publicize a variety of departmental projects, services and programs.
- Prepares a variety of promotional and informational materials
including articles, bulletins, websites, pamphlets and other related media material.
Applied Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of principles, theories and methods of communications,
public relations, and journalism.
- Strong understanding of company policies and communications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to write, edits, and manages all facets of a publication.
- Ability to work based on deadlines and write effectively for the appropriate audience.
Experience:
- Typically requires 2-5 years of writing, editing, and publications experience.
- Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent
English.
- Prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO).

POSITION TITLE: Communications Manager

We seek qualified candidates for the position of Communications
Manager. This position will be based in Accra, Ghana.
Position Description:
The Communications Manager will provide primary technical
oversight of all communications and dissemination of operations research and
evaluation findings for a USAID-funded, 5-year, multi-million dollar program in
West Africa. Availability of the position is contingent upon issuance of an
award of a USAID Request for Proposal (RFP), and selection of final applicant
is subject to USAID approval. The Communications Manager will advocate for
information exchange on project activities. S/he will work with the
Capacity Building Advisor to strengthen capacity of project partners in
presenting and reporting evaluation and research findings. S/he will
produce stories, photographs, and media content for outlets, such as WAHO and
USAID websites.
Additional Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee
the translation of research results from
multi-country FP/HIV implementation research
studies into communication pieces for various audiences.
- Researches,
writes, and edits a broad range of promotional and informational materials
including articles, bulletins, websites, pamphlets and other related media
material.
- Develops
models of community engagement to promote dissemination of results among key
populations, family planning users, programmers, donors and policy makers.
Support the translation of research results into clear recommendations for
changes in practice
- Utilizes
a range of media to communicate research results. These include webinar,
community meetings, workshops, SMS, briefs, abstracts, journal articles
and blogs.
- Plan
for a set of meetings with WAHO, host country
officials, donors and implementers to present
findings and their implications for national strategies, Global
Fund applications and other resource development
efforts
- Identify
target journals for publication and key
conference for presentation of evaluation results
- Secure
agreement from key partners (eg WAHO) to post
findings from research on their website
- Inform
the community engagement and dissemination plans
for each study.
- Coordinate
with USAID implementing partners to adjust
communication and behavior change efforts based
on research findings
- Contribute
to annual workplans and reports
Minimum Requirements:
- At
least 7 years of experience in developing and implementing communications
strategies and developing communications materials for international
public health projects in Africa, ideally in francophone West Africa
- Master’s
degree in Communications, Public Health or related field required
- Ability
to develop, maintain, and use relationships with key external
stakeholders, including: USAID/WA, USG, WAHO, host country Ministries of
Health, to identify decision timelines and strategies on how, when, and to
whom research and evaluation findings should be disseminated
- Proven
experience in conducting stakeholder analysis for communications materials
- Ability
to translate complex scientific and public health policy and programmatic
findings and reports into communications materials for various target
audiences.
- Skill
in developing and implementing a wide range of communication products
- Fluency
in speaking, reading and writing both English and French
