Chemonics seeks a deputy chief of party to provide technical
leadership for an anticipated five-year, USAID/Liberia-funded health systems
strengthening project. This project will strengthen the Liberian health care
system and improve the health status of the Liberian population. It will
increase access to and utilization of high-quality health care, enhance
financial sustainability and workforce development through performance-based
approaches, and strengthen the capacity of government health authorities to
manage and monitor service delivery at central, county, and facility levels. This
position will be based in Monrovia, with significant travel in Liberia. We are
looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives
of people around the world.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in medicine, nursing, public health, health policy, health management, or other relevant field required
- Minimum 10 years of experience, including work in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly with ministries of health and health development programs
- Familiarity with and knowledge of the Liberian context; development program experience in Liberia strongly preferred
- Deep technical and management skills on donor-funded health projects
- Experience building the capacity of health ministries for improved health care
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Service delivery
- HIV/AIDS
- Family planning/reproductive health
- Maternal, newborn, and child health
- Health systems management; health financing
- Health policy, including universal health coverage
- Health supply chain logistics
- Health monitoring and evaluation or epidemiology
- Institutional capacity building
- Health decentralization
- Training and capacity building experience in area of technical expertise
- Ability to work collaboratively with host country officials, donor organizations, and other key stakeholders
- Experience decentralizing and improving management capacity of government health authorities
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluent written and spoken English
