looking for 2 Project Officers in the SSLDP Project
LOCATION: MAGWI AND TORIT, EASTERN EQUATORIA
The SSLDP Project
South Sudan Livelihoods Development Project (SSLDP) is a six
year government project with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry,
Cooperatives and Rural Development (MAFCRD) as the lead ministry. The project
represents the first collaborative arrangement between the newly independent
Government of the Republic of South Sudan (RSS) and International Fund for
Agriculture Development (IFAD) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands
(EKN). The project goal is to reduce poverty and hunger in the project area
consisting of six counties of Bor and Pibor in Jonglei State, Terekeka and Juba
in Central Equatorial State and Magwi and Lafon/Lopa in Eastern Equatorial
State and the objective is to increase food security and incomes through
improved agricultural productivity and marketing.
The Project has three Components;
(i) Community Development
(ii) Rural infrastructure development
(iii) Project management
(ii) Rural infrastructure development
(iii) Project management
SNV and the scope of the work
SNV, Netherlands Development Organization is the service
provider implementing the community development component of the SSLDP in both
Magwi and Lopa/Lafon Counties of Eastern Equatorial State. This project
component focuses on developing farmers’ livelihoods. It therefore encompasses
improvement of farmers’ production and productivity as well as increased access
to markets for better input and output prices.
SNV’s major role therefore is to help and guide farmer groups in the identification and selection of economic enterprises of significance to the development of their livelihoods. Furthermore upon selection of the enterprises, SNV provides capacity development that enables members of the economic enterprise group realise and utilise their full potential for improved production and productivity.
The Role of the Project Officer
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager the
Project Officer has the following duties;
q Production capacity development needs identification
q Value chain analysis of supported economic enterprises for effective intervention support
q Provision of tailor-made capacity development through trainings (both theoretical and practical), guidance, mentorship, exposure, etc.
q Gathering and provision of market information
q Marketing and business skill development
q Monitoring and evaluation of project progress
q CFF training and supervision

Qualifications
Education Diploma in Agriculture (both crop and animal
husbandry), Agribusiness or any other related field
Experience:
q 3-5
years’ experience in working with farmers.
q Ability to identify real farmers’ needs and provide realistic solutions
q Knowledge of extension information dissemination mechanisms
q Knowledge on Agribusiness
q Good facilitation and training skills
q Good report writing skills
q Willingness to settle and work in rural areas
q Good report writing skills
Language Fluency in English, Arabic and other local languages is an added advantage
q Ability to identify real farmers’ needs and provide realistic solutions
q Knowledge of extension information dissemination mechanisms
q Knowledge on Agribusiness
