Advocacy and Communications Advisor – DRC
Salary: Competitive salary and benefits based on International Alert’s salary scales.
Based: Kinshasa, DRC
Duration: Until 31st July 2017
Alert is recruiting for an Advocacy and Communications Advisor for DRC. The post will be based in Kinshasa, with frequent travel within the country and occasionally within the region and to London.
The Advocacy and Communications Advisor is the head of Alert’s DRC liaison office in Kinshasa, which is being established in the first half of 2015. Working closely with the DRC Country Manager, she/he takes the lead on setting Alert DRC’s advocacy and communications strategy, producing advocacy outputs, supporting colleagues to develop and implement advocacy outputs and activities, networking on a regular basis with key policy-makers and donors in Kinshasa, collecting and analysing information relevant to political developments in the country, and identifying opportunities for collaboration with peer organisations and partners in order to shape and influence institutional policies and practices.
Educated to a higher degree or equivalent, with experience in a relevant subject, you will have substantial experience of networking, communications and advocacy on peacebuilding, gender and/or development issues in Africa. You will be able to demonstrate proven experience of producing high-quality advocacy outputs. Excellent working knowledge (spoken, written and reading) of both French and English is also essential.
