Position: Financial Planning and Reporting Manager
Location: Johannesburg
Salary: £45 489 Grade E
Purpose of the Role:
Responsible for managing the long term and operational
financial planning and reporting for the Federation and the International
Secretariat, including aggregated financial reports for the organisation
on a quarterly and annual basis and for the review of these reports.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Working
with Planning, develop appropriate instructions, guidelines and tools for
long term planning for inclusion in the Strategic Implementation plan; and
short term planning for both 1 year operational and 3 year plans for the
Federation and the International Secretariat;
- Review
plan data from all entities and review variances and performance as
appropriate
- Working
with Finance colleagues to identify data collection and financial analysis
for the preparation of regular and timely reports for management,
governance (Finance & Funding Committee and International Board) and
decision making groups.
- Produce
timely regular financial organisation-wide information to International
Fundraising, Programmes and other functions as required.
- Liaises
with external audit and countries to plan and coordinate the annual
aggregation and audit process to ensure delivery within strategy and
timelines;
- Ensures
relevant financial policies and procedures are maintained and
documentation kept up to date (including Financial Management Framework);
- Work
with Finance, IT and other stakeholders on developing/improving reports,
systems and tools for delivery of core responsibilities;
- Lead
and manage the process for compilation of financial data for
the organisation held on TM1 or otherwise
- Design
appropriate reports (using TM1 where appropriate) to meet key reporting
requirements, user requirements and improve existing reports
- Ensure
that the TM1 system is regularly maintained.
- Ensure
data integrity of data held on TM1.
- In
liaison with IT and the Financial systems team , lead the development and
upgrade of of TM1 or other financial systems(in case of a change).
- Recruiting
staff in line with AAI HR policies.
- Conducting
probationary reviews with staff and annual performance reviews
(performance management) to support staff development.
- Building
and motivating teams and managing effectively from a distance.
Desired Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- B.Com
Degree or Honors Degree and professional accounting qualification
- At
least 6-8 years accounting experience of finance department management,
including financial planning and reporting
- Experience
of working in an international environment
- Strong
analytical and management skills, with track record in management and
motivation of staff
- Strong
influencing skills – able to positively build peer working relationships
and be effective without having to rely on authority
- Experience
of financial consolidations, and aggregation packages
- Experience
of varied accounting environments with a proven track-record of process
improvement and implementation of best-practice
