Global Communities seeks a Communications Officer to lead communications
and reporting efforts for Global Communities Ebola response
programs. The Communications Officer will be based in Monrovia, Liberia.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage
program communications and reporting activities for a minimum of two
separate Ebola Response programs in Liberia,
including preparation of formal and informal reports, success stories,press releases, and other internal and external program communications. - Prepare
daily or weekly briefings/situation reports as
required for Global Communities’ Country Director and program donors. - Lead
the drafting of monthly and quarterly programmatic reports, in accordance
with USAID/OFDA and other donor guidelines and formats.
- Responsible
for liaising with Global Communities’ HQ-based Communications
Department to issue press releases, success stories, and other internal
and external documents to share Global Communities’ work on the Ebola
crisis.
- Support
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) colleagues
in the field and at HQ in gathering, tracking, and reporting data. - Participate
in coordination meetings, meetings with
donors, government officials, and others as designated by the Country
Director. - Support
County Program Advisors and the Border Surveillance Program Manager in the
production of training materials for border communities and in the
tracking of surveillance and Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS)
reporting indicators.
- Travel
to field locations as needed to support program
teams and develop communications materials on important events. - Create,
develop, and maintain soft and hard copies of a
central grants, reporting and communications calendar.
- Support
the in-country activities of TDY personnel from
HQ Programs, the Office of Humanitarian Assistance, and others, as
arranged with Country Director. - Other
responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability
to write clear, concise, and articulate program
reports and communications materials with minimal oversight and editing - Excellent
communication skills
- Fluency
in English
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Required:
a Master's degree in relevant
discipline and 0-2 years of experience or a Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience. Equivalent combination of education and
experience.
Knowledge of USAID and/or USAID/OFDA
reporting and communications preferred
Field-based experience working in
emergency environments, preferably with health crises preferre- Health
and disease outbreak background preferred Knowledge
