Project Summary: The Egypt Civil Society Support
program is designed to build the organizational and management capacity of Egyptian
civil society organizations. Funded by USAID/Egypt’s Democracy and Governance
Program and implemented by MSI in partnership with FHI36O and IREX, the project
provides technical assistance and support to individual Egyptian CSOs and the
broader civil society to advocate for citizen interests and engage in a wide
variety of civic action.
Position Summary:
ECSS seeks to hire a Social Media Manager, who will oversee the process of updating the ECSS website on a regular basis and implement a social marketing strategy to improve the visibility of and increase traffic to ECSS’s online civil society resource library. The Social Media Manager will assist with the migration of all materials currently on NGOConnect.net/Egypt to a new website, ECSS Maktabat, and maintain and update the new site to ensure it offers CSOs up-to-date information and resources. The new website will serve as an interactive web portal dedicated to strengthening civil society networks and facilitating the sharing of organizational development tools, training materials, best practices, and other resources from Egypt and across the region. The Social Media Manager will ensure the user-friendliness of the site, maintain its branding and “casual yet professional” design, as well as help drive traffic to the site and increase the number of resources available for download from the site. The Social Media Manager will also create and launch web social networks related such as Facebook, Twitter, and Blogger accounts, and control the message on these social media sites.

This position is from October 1, 2013 – February 28, 2014,
for a total level of effort of 23 days.

Responsibilities: The role of the ECSS Social Media Manager includes but is not limited to the following activities:

3. Work with program staff to coordinate the communications and marketing efforts, and prioritize digital content updates.
4. Utilize social networking tools to promote ECSS activities, including e-learning courses and networking opportunities.
5. Act as an administrative and content manager for all ECSS social media platforms.
6. Implement a social media marketing plan for ECSS on-line media platforms.
7. Ensure brand consistency of all program print and online documents disseminated to the public.

Qualifications:
1. Degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited university.
2. At least ten years’ experience in marketing and communications.
3. Demonstrated record of work in the field of social media marketing and outreach.
4. Demonstrated record of work in the field of CSO capacity building.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situations, particularly multi-cultural teams.
6. Excellent spoken and written English and Arabic.
