Please note we are looking for candidates who are able to
take up the placement in October 2013.
The Organisational Capacity Building Adviser will work
closely with the key staff of five local NGOs, and also with the staff of Save
the Children in Somaliland, working under the Child Rights Governance
Programme. The development worker will assist the five local NGOs, through the
support of Save the Children, in building and enhancing their organisational
capacities, particularly in programming, governance and leadership, and
sustainability.
The successful candidate should have a Master’s degree in
development studies, management, sociology, social work, community development
or other relevant discipline.
A minimum of five years’ experience in the development of
strategic plans, fundraising plans, monitoring and evaluation policies, systems
and tools, advocacy strategies focusing on child protection and child rights
governance, and concept notes and project proposals; in organisational
assessment, organisational development and organisational capacity building,
including the assessment of individual and institutional capacity building
needs, organising and facilitating capacity building activities, and mentoring
and coaching, and of working with local and international NGOs or civil society
organisations is essential. You should have experience working in a resource
poor environment.
You should also have demonstrable knowledge and skills in
organisational development tools and methodologies; an ability to transfer
skills and knowledge through formal or informal training and skill-sharing, and
developed analytical skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills,
including the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders in a
participatory and respectful manner, and to enhance effective work
relationships; a commitment to team-building and a consensus-led approach to
work; excellent prioritising skills, including the ability to plan and
implement own work with limited support and/or supervision; good problem
solving skills, an openness to learning and a drive for innovation and
excellence, and an ability to adapt skills and knowledge to the the local
context and work with existing resources is also essential.
A willingness to travel in the region and within Somaliland
and cultural sensitivity in an Islamic setting is also required.
