The Health Financing Volunteer will spend ~3 months
determining the cost of ARVs per patient per year in Lesotho across various
cohorts and compare this global estimates for treating patients. The
Volunteer will be working with various in-country partners and stakeholders to
gather the relevant data to conduct the costing analysis. The Volunteer
would have the opportunity to shape CHAI-Lesotho’s entry into a new area of
work – particularly around health financing issues.
Responsibilities:
CHAI is seeking a highly motivated individual with
outstanding credentials, analytical ability, and communication skills to
support the CHAI Lesotho for this specific project. The candidate must be
able to function independently and flexibly and have a strong commitment to

ethic. Specifically, key responsibilities will include but are not
limited to the following:
- Collect
financial, expenditure, and stock level reports regarding available
regimens, patient populations, and specific program statistics and support
data management and organization for analysis.
- Provide
robust analytical support, and actively participate in problem-solving and
structuring of the analytical approach
- Conduct
detailed cost analysis of the approximate cost of ARVs for adult,
pediatric, and pregnant ART patients. Include any/all changes to ART
guidelines.
- Develop
financial scenario modeling to bridge any resource gaps and consider
suitability of different financial tools to do so
- Develop
a comprehensive report and/or presentation on the various scenarios for
the cost of ARVs per patient per year and any applicable sensitivity
analysis
- Engage
with relevant internal and external stakeholders including Global Drug
Access Team members and the Ministry of Health respectively during data
collection, methodology development, and final report sharing
Qualifications:
- Recent
graduate from top tier university – exceptional applicants currently
enrolled in university will be considered
- Fluency
in English , excellent written and oral communications skills
- High
level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
- Strong
problem solving skills and analytical capabilities
- Strong
interpersonal skills, particularly in cross-cultural contexts and
willingness to learn in a culturally diverse work environment
- Ability
to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work
independently in a fast-paced environment
Pluses (order of priority):
- Experience
conducting quantitative, modeling or costing analysis
- Familiarity
with global health issues
