Overview:
The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI – formerly the
Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative) was established in 2002 to increase access to care
and treatment to people living with HIV/AIDS and to strengthen health systems
in resource-poor countries. Over the past few years, CHAI has expanded the
scope to include access to high-quality treatment for malaria, new vaccines and
essential treatments for common childhood illnesses such as diarrhoea and
pneumonia. CHAI has also increasingly supported governments build the capacity
required for high-quality care and treatment programs. Currently, CHAI partners
with governments in more than 25 countries while more than 70 countries
directly benefit from the low-priced drugs and diagnostic test agreements that
CHAI has negotiated.
CHAI Kenya is seeking a program analyst to work in the
Essential Medicines program. The goal of the Essential Medicines program in
CHAI is to support the Ministry of Health in countries we work in to reduce
overall child mortality through scaling up of essential treatments for common
childhood illnesses.
The Essential Medicines analyst will be expected to carry
out a wide variety of tasks from quantitative analysis to program
implementation related aspects. We are seeking two highly motivated individuals
with outstanding credentials, analytical ability, and communication skills. The
officers must be able to function independently and flexibly as well as build
strong relationships with government officials and partners. CHAI places great

Location: Nairobi, Kenya
The Essential Medicines Analyst will be based in Nairobi,
Kenya, with frequent travel to the field.
Responsibilities:
- Support
the Ministry of Health and County Health teams in scaling up of high
impact interventions aimed at reducing child morbidity and mortality in
Kenya
- Work
closely with implementing partners at the regional/county levels in the
execution of the Child Health interventions scale up strategy.
- Contribute
to the analysis and design of CHAI’s Essential Medicines strategy in Kenya
and globally and supporting the mobilization and management of financial
resources to implement that strategy
- Conduct
robust analysis of various child health interventions and consulting with
key individuals and organizations to inform program design and re-design
- Plan
and timely execute ambitious Essential Medicines program activities at
national and county levels
- Ensure
the robust design and implementation of evaluation methodologies and the
translation of findings into appropriate changes in policy and practice
- Perform
any other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
Qualifications:
- A
minimum of 2 years work experience in Public Health or a related field
- Exceptional
analytical, research and presentation skills of qualitative and
quantitative data and strong communication (written and verbal) skills
- Strong
interpersonal skills and proven ability to build relationships in a
multicultural environment
- Ability
to work in a high-performance environment and demonstrated flexibility to
respond to changing program needs.
- Ability
to work independently, self-motivate, and propose and implement new
initiatives
- Ability
to be effective in high-pressure situations, handle multiple tasks
simultaneously, and set priorities
- Ability
to absorb and synthesize a broad range of information, especially clinical
and scientific information
- High
level of proficiency in relevant computer applications, particularly MS
Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Knowledge of MS Access would be a
significant advantage;

to travel frequently and at short notice
