Country Director, Liberia

About the Role
Working in 50 developing countries across Africa, Asia and the Americas, Plan’s stated Global Strategic Goal (2011-15) is to reach as many children as possible, particularly those who are excluded or marginalised, with high-quality programmes that deliver long-lasting benefits. Plan aims to achieve this goal by working in partnership with others and through high performing teams whose behaviours reflect the corporate values. Plan has a global income of around $800m.

The latest Country Strategic Plan for Liberia has been approved for the period 2010 - 2015. Currently the country programme reaches an estimated 150,486 children in four programme areas. It has a portfolio of twenty active grants with a budget of $5,284,354 for FY14.

You will be responsible for ensuring the following;
  • Plan’s work will be based on an excellent analysis of the needs of the most vulnerable children in the country and the subsequent strategic choices of programming interventions.
  • Plan’s work will be delivered in a cost-effective and efficient way through a highly qualified team, skilled in their area of expertise and compliant with the expectations as well as the policies and procedures established by Plan.
  • Plan in Liberia has adequate Disaster Risk Management capacities in place to respond to emergency situations that affect the rights of children.
  • Plan’s work will be well funded.
  • Plan will be a credible national actor, accountable to beneficiaries and other stakeholders inside and outside of the country, and an influential organisation promoting the rights and needs of highly vulnerable children in Liberia.
  • Key achievements, programme learning and technical know-how of Plan Liberia will be shared with fellow Country Offices to improve programme quality and operational efficiency throughout the region and the organisation as a whole.
You will be a highly experienced leader with proven skills in the development and management of effective and motivated teams. With demonstrable knowledge of the key debates around development programming and previous success fundraising with a variety of sources you will bring passion, determination, and fresh thinking to our work, with the aim of expanding both our reach and our impact, and making change work for millions of children.
