ILRI seeks to recruit a Research Technician to contribute to
the collection and analysis of economic and biophysical data to support
research in development activities and pilot testing of new institutional
linkages in ILRI’s dairy value chain research in Tanzania
The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) works
to enhance the roles livestock play in pathways out of poverty in developing
countries. ILRI has two main campuses in East Africa and other hubs in East,
West and southern Africa and South, Southeast and East Asia.
CGIAR is a global agricultural research partnership for a
food-secure future. Its science is carried out by 15 research centres that are
members of the CGIAR Consortium in collaboration with hundreds of partner
organizations.
Responsibilities
- Support
development partner activities in Tanzania in relation to strengthening
the dairy value chains through new institutional arrangements and
business-to-business linkages
- Provide
monitoring, learning and evaluation support to partners in Tanzania
working in ILRI’s MoreMilkIt project
- Contribute
to the analysis of data related to carbon credit mechanisms in dairy
sector in Kenya
- Contribute
to writing of a feasibility document for the same carbon credit mechanisms
research
Requirements
- BSc in
Agricultural Economics or related field
- 2
years’ experience
- Field
experience in the area of agricultural research for development –
preferably in the area of connecting farmers to markets and/or livestock
focused research
- Ability
to design questionnaires and implement surveys (data collection, and field
management)
- Experience
in data analysis and knowledge of at least one statistical software
package (e.g. STATA)
- Good
interpersonal and communication skills
- Good
writing and reporting skills
Terms of Appointment
This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position based at
ILRI’s Nairobi campus. The position is on a 1 year fixed term contract.
Job level and salary
This position is in job Grade 2B with a minimum start salary
of KES 83,606. This is exclusive of other benefits provided by ILRI.
