Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
An exciting position has arisen within the Organizational
Effectiveness Directorate of ActionAid International to Support the effective
use the intranet and other internal communication. The role will
require liaison between the various line managers needs and incorporate a range
of support activities from training to communications and public
relations.
Key responsibility areas include, but are not
limited to:
- Maintain
the Hive (intranet) Home Page – responding to posting requests from across
the federation, but also executing a plan for pushing new and relevant
information to the Hive (intranet) home page
- Produce
the Intranet Digest regularly
- At the
direction of the Intranet and Knowledge Manager, complete projects that
improve communications, knowledge management, and information retrieval
- Designing
and developing sites on the Hive (SharePoint) in support of priority
projects
- Working
with teams within the Secretariat to improve collaboration through the use
of the intranet, or other IT initiatives
- Maintaining
the Org Learning and Change Hive page and any shared team documents and team
communications
- Scheduling
and coordinating regular team meetings
- Liaise
with Organizational Effectiveness Directorate Business Manager to assist
the team in complying with Action Aid policy, practice and guidance e.g.
Travel policy, expense management, consulting contracts etc.
Person Specification
- The
ideal candidate will preferably have:
- The
right to work in country
- Excellent
IT skills. A high degree of proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint and
Microsoft Office suite are essential
- Web
design
- Web
design, graphic design, database experience and/or knowledge of social
media are highly desirable
- Minimum
of 3 years’ experience in an administrative function (relevant higher
education may be an acceptable substitute for some experience)
- Customer-oriented,
with the ability to build good relationships within the organisation
through listening skills and a pleasant, flexible and open manner
- Highly
developed written and verbal communication skills
- Good
writing skills. Ability to identify central themes in written material and
summarize documents and articles.
