The role
The DFID Education M&E Manager will work closely with the Education Consortium Coordinator, M&E Advisor and program managers across SC and NRC to review, implement and maintain an effective monitoring & evaluation system and beneficiary accountability mechanisms for a large, complex and innovative DFID supported education project working across 5 states in South Sudan. The post-holder will also from time to time provide technical support to SC Country office to strengthen the quality of our education M&E systems and ensure education programming and reporting is based on evidence of good practice in line with organization strategies and international quality standards.

This role is a key part of the DFID-funded Alternative Education for All programme that covers five of the ten states in South Sudan. The large, multi-faceted programme is implemented by Save the Children in a consortium with the Norwegian Refugee Council, and this role has the responsibility for ensuring quality and coherence in the M&E across both agencies. The post is the main link to the donor on matters relating to monitoring and evaluation; and will also be expected to work on building capacity in the staff-teams in the field offices.

Qualifications and experience

Essential * Advanced degree in a discipline relevant to international development, international affairs, education etc * At least 2 years' experience in : o PME design and implementation o Participatory assessment & monitoring o Data processing & analysis o Training & capacity building o Education related M&E * Excellent communication & facilitation skills * Good contextual knowledge related to civil society/community assessment * Ability and willingness to travel extensively to the field sites and work independently sometimes in harsh environments, difficult and occasionally in insecure environments * Ability to work under tight deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously * Fluent in spoken and written English * Commitment to realizing child rights * Commitment to Save the Children values. * Computer literate Desirable * Experience working in horn/East Africa region * Experience in promoting children participation in program implementation & monitoring.
